‘Dedicated and loyal’ care home team clock up 238 years’ service

When Barry Freeman and Bridget Muttock started work at The Depperhaugh, the romance of Prince Charles and Lady Diana was making headlines and the Falklands War was in the future. They are the longest-serving employees at the care home on the Suffolk/Norfolk border, with 35 and 34 years’ service respectively but they are not alone in considering themselves part of the furniture.

Kingsley staff raised £145 for four charities by wearing Christmas jumpers for the day and donating £2.
The amount will be doubled thanks to the generous pledge of CEO Daya Thayan.
Over The Rainbow Children's Charity, launched by Kingsley recruitment manager Bev Lambert, will receive half the cash.
The other charities to benefit will be Save the Children, Make a Wish and MacMillan.

Menu makes eating fun again

A new appetising and nutritional menu has been introduced at a Lowestoft care home, which targets people who have difficulties when swallowing their food. Staff at Kirkley Manor care home, run by Kingsley Healthcare, came up with the idea of making the pureed food resemble an actual meal – instead of it being blended together and looking unappetising in its presentation. The idea has been introduced to the home by chef Alan Pells, who recently won Chef of the Year in the inaugural Kingsley Care Awards.
