Harvest fete at The Depperhaugh nursing home raises £320 for Macmillan Cancer Support

depperhaugh nursing home fete 2 2021

Families enjoyed summer’s last hurragh at a harvest fete in the grounds of The Depperhaugh nursing home, in Hoxne, near Eye.

Saturday’s event, described as a “huge success” by the Kingsley Healthcare home’s administrator, Michelle Burridge, raised £320 for Macmillan Cancer Support from a raffle, tombola and hog roast sales.

Alongside traditional fete games there were stalls selling craft goods, cakes and fresh local produce.

The Depperhaugh’s long-serving nurse Christine Dinnage brought her donkeys Nip and Tonton along, much to the delight of children!

Elvis impersonator Andy Ottley entertained visitors while a gleaming classic Austin, brought along by Leon Spriddell, the husband of support worker Michelle, proved a huge draw.

Mrs Burridge said: “We were worried that the fuel crisis might deter people from coming but we had a really good turn-out from surrounding towns and villages as well as families of residents.”

She praised local businesses for their generous support of the raffle.
