Good CQC rating for Yaxley House care home
Yaxley House care home will be hosting an Easter Saturday family fun afternoon and open day to celebrate its good Care Quality Commission (CQC) report. The Kingsley Healthcare-run home in Church Lane, Yaxley, near Eye, is inviting the public to a combined fete and Easter egg hunt from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday, April 11.
The fete will include a range of traditional games and stalls from target football and a coconut shy to hook a duck and guess the weight of the cake; there will be a raffle, tombola and refreshments. Home manager Louise Richardson said: “We are delighted with our new CQC rating which is good overall and good in every category. “We wanted to host an event to celebrate our success and show off our home and garden to local people. We have recently invested a considerable sum in new decor and new furnishings.” During their visit, the CQC inspectors were impressed by the “positive rapport” between staff and residents.
On resident told them: “I like the staff, you can have a laugh and joke with them. ”Inspectors found staff respected and promoted people’s dignity and independence, one resident saying: “I like it here because you are encouraged to do as much for yourself as you wish but the staff are here to help as well.” Residents reported that they were happy with the service and received personalised care that met their needs. One person said: “The staff are always here for you and they frequently ask me how I am.
Inspectors report: “People were supported to enjoy a wide range of activities and they told us they had made friends with other people living at Yaxley House. Residents were complimentary about the way the service was led, one telling inspectors: The manager is very nice and knows what she is doing".
Inspectors also received good reports on the food, one resident describing meals as “nice and always enough”.
