Spring Lodge not only has spacious single and double rooms to accommodate a total of 46 residents, but also many communal areas in which to relax, socialise and play games. Each room is very different, as you’ll see by taking the 360° tour. We have a conservatory, two lounges, dining room, garden and our pride and joy, the beach area. We aim to cater for everyone’s needs at Spring Lodge.
The entire home is very attractive throughout and is decorated and furnished to emanate a rather grand country retreat feel. Overlaying the decoration and furniture, each room has a different theme and contains varied items thoughtfully placed. The rooms are cosy, homely and extremely comfortable. As staff, we never forget that this is the home of the residents and that we are merely working in it. A part of the Kingsley culture is to encourage individuals to enjoy the home and individualise their rooms in any way they wish.

Kingsley Healthcare’s truly person centred approach to care creates a positive culture and focuses on the quality of life and relationships. We place importance on the past lives of our residents, and take the time to work closely with a resident and his or her family members to find out about personal tastes, history, hobbies and interests. This information is vital in understanding how best to support people to improve their sense of well-being and provide the best care possible while they live at Spring Lodge. The knowledge gained helps us so much to create bespoke care plans and lifestyles for each individual. We also listen carefully to the people who live with us and their families, about the services we provide. Family and friends are significant partners with Spring Lodge and are welcome to visit and chat throughout the day.
Helping to give people a renewed sense of purpose can create a new lease of life, helping them to feel useful and valued again. We believe that stimulation through skilled, engaging interactions can also help to diminish anxiety. Each Kingsley care home is unique, but we all have a set of highly respected features embedded within the culture, and the way we care for our residents makes a big difference in their lives. Our daily emphasis is on the care that our residents need, whether that is physical, emotional, spiritual or mental.
We are committed to providing the best possible outcomes for people living with a dementia and their families. We achieve this through our ‘Wings’ (Welcome, Individuality, Nurturing, Guidance, Sensitivity) philosophy of care. This award-winning approach is nationally recognized and our bespoke learning programme is designed to ensure that the person with a dementia is at the heart of everything we do. All of our homes are designed to be dementia friendly, and you will see this evidenced in every room.
Our qualified, caring staff are friendly, enthusiastic and committed to enhancing the residents’ well-being. They connect with our residents through meaningful communication and encourage residents to interact with daily living activities and person appropriate activities. We want our residents to feel busy, useful, occupied and successful.
Spring Lodge residents can rise at a time of their choice and select from a variety of cold and cooked breakfasts. Residents have their own diet plan, decided upon by them and their family. They can even take breakfast in bed if they like, but most prefer to enjoy the communal, friendly atmosphere of the dining room. Staff members dine with the residents and don’t wear uniforms, which adds to the wonderfully relaxed, homely feel of mealtimes.
An optional programme of activities follows breakfast, and individuals have a wide choice of how they spend their day. Spending time with family, visiting the award-winning pub or the marina close by; relaxing in one of the many spacious communal areas or their own room; watching TV; sitting in the garden, which is secure and always accessible; playing games; enjoying the various visiting entertainment or chatting with friends… the possibilities are almost endless!
The friendly, committed staff are always on hand to be with residents if needed, and an important part of the residents’ day is one-to-one time. In these periods they may do arts and crafts, explore the themed rooms, take a trip out, play a game, paint nails or just chat.
Mealtimes are flexible and can be enjoyed with family members at any time. All food is cooked on the premises and is made both with health and taste in mind.
Hot drinks, tea, coffee and snacks are served throughout the day.
Sometimes group trips are taken to places of interest and/or for lunch, and we often have local entertainers or musicians dropping by for an hour or so. Some of our residents love helping out around the home, which helps everyone and is welcomed.
After supper, some residents opt to go to bed early, but others stay up until much later. Alcohol is available for those that want it, and there is NO set bedtime, as this is your home.
We encourage all our residents to live as healthily as possible, to help them have long and pleasant lives. Where possible we encourage exercise, keeping minds active and eating nutritious food. We support our residents in maintaining their independence as much as possible, so we embrace and encourage ways in which they can do this.
Our healthy, balanced meals are made from scratch in our kitchen using only the best ingredients. We also realise that eating habits vary, and our cook is able to provide a varied diet to meet everyone’s needs. The menu is regularly updated taking into account residents’ suggestions; this keeps mealtimes interesting.

Spring Lodge care home was formerly the parsonage to Woolverstone Hall, located at the heart of the village. Well presented inside and out, the home is set in well-maintained gardens that allow residents to enjoy the sun, the fresh air and the changing colours of the seasons. The home offers both residential care and specialised dementia care for up to 46 people, with respite care also offered subject to availability.
The home serves the wider community around this picturesque area of Suffolk, including Ipswich and its suburbs and surrounding villages, such as Manningtree, Holbrook, Tattingstone and Capel St Mary. It’s easily accessible from the A14 and A12 and is very close to the Royal Harwich Yacht Club on the River Orwell.
It has recently been extended with new bedrooms and a selection of communal spaces, and the main accommodation offers 18 single en suite rooms, 20 single non en suite rooms and 7 double non en suite rooms.
Spring Lodge has a relaxing home from home atmosphere, a fact recognised by relatives and visitors. Residents take an interest in any proposed changes and have a say with alterations and decorations; this is their home after all.
We actively encourage those who are considering living at Spring Lodge to visit and spend some time at the home to gain an accurate perception of the care we offer. It will give you an opportunity to meet the team and ask any questions you may have. Please feel free to look around at any time that is convenient to you. Staff are around at all times of the day and they will be happy to give you a guided tour of the premises and answer your questions. The team is selected through a very thorough recruitment process, which reassures us that the staff members supporting our residents are all sincere. New recruits undergo a very intensive induction training programme, where they are supported and helped to overcome any difficulties they might come across in their daily work. The team looks after our residents with emphasis on quality of life, and we strive to give real purpose to every single day our residents are living with us.
Louise began working at Spring Lodge in August 2016 and had many experience with healthcare industry.
Hanro began working at Spring Lodge in September 2014 and worked her way up to her present position from being a team leader.
