Eleanor unveils her vision as new home manager at Oaklands

oaklands care manager new intro

A big welcome to Eleanor Brewer who is our new home manager at Oaklands Care Home.

Eleanor, who brings more than 20 years of experience in the care industry to her new role, is excited about the challenge of taking the home forward from its already favourable position with a Good CQC rating and a 9.8 score on the carehome.co.uk review site.

She said: “In one of my previous jobs managing learning disability day services, an important part of my role was planning person-centred care.

“I will be quickly getting to know all about the life history of our residents at Oaklands, and talking to their families, so we can make care far more person-centred.”

She said another innovation she would bring to Oaklands from her time working as a specialist in falls prevention for the NHS service, East Coast Community Health Care, was daily strength and balancing exercises.

She said: “My previous roles often involved working with the community and networking. I will be looking to build our relationship with the community at Oaklands.

“We have a beautiful garden and I would like to organise community events such as summer garden parties.

“I would also like to introduce more raised beds in the garden so residents can take part in gardening activities. Maybe we could even have plant sales.”

Eleanor said she was looking forward to really getting to know residents and their families over the coming weeks.

“My door is always open if relatives want to come and raise any concerns or suggest ways of improving our service,” she said.
