Staff and residents at Oaklands Care Home, in Scole, near Diss, followed the example of the late Captain Sir Tom Moore to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society.

In bright sunshine on Saturday, residents – some with frames and others in wheelchairs - were joined by staff to take part in the charity’s annual Memory Walk.

Sponsored by friends, colleagues and family members, they raised more than £70 by completing two laps of the grounds at the Kingsley Healthcare-run home.

Home administrator Becky Kingsland said: “Everyone really enjoyed it and I am sure we will repeat it in the future. Even staff who were not on shift came in to take part.

“In a year of lockdowns, it was lovely for everyone to be able to get out in the fresh air.”

She said the charity was close to everyone’s hearts because many residents at Oaklands are living with dementia.
