Butterflies at Thorp House

One of the biggest impacts to the daily living experience at Thorp House as a result of us adopting the real person centred approach has been a change to the activities programme and the day to day living experience. We have moved right away from a scheduled programme of activities, and have many individual meaningful mini activities taking place throughout the day, based upon individuals’ likes which enhances individual well-being.

Life at Thorp House

Our resident’s are encouraged and supported to make choices and to be an integral part of the care planning process.  The core values in care – dignity, choice, independence, rights, privacy and fulfilment are the fundamentals in our care approach, and we support our residents to lead fulfilling lives.

Our staff are trained to encourage and enable residents to play an active part in the home and involve them in day to day activities and choices.  We make use of our  delightful enclosed garden where residents and their guests can sit and enjoy the warm summer days. The gardens also offer patio and landscaped areas plus two conservatories which face into a courtyard so residents can enjoy sunshine all year round.

We have regular visiting entertainers as well as impromptu sing-along’s, making Thorp a lively and fun place to be.
